Herbal Signatures

Herbal Signatures is a naturopathic clinic founded on evidence-based phytomedicine and western herbal medicine. Rooted in the ancient tradition of western herbal medicine, Herbal Signatures blends the most recent scientific research on phytomedicine with the ancient wisdom of western herbal medicine.

The use of plants for therapeutic purposes is the oldest form of therapy practiced by mankind in every culture around the world. The ancient wisdom of western herbal medicine is embedded within a contemporary functional therapeutic approach which provides patient-centred care to restore health and enhance quality of life.

Herbal Signatures adopts the principles and practice of Kerry Bone’s functional herbal therapy in clinical practice. Functional herbal therapy (FHT) merges the principles of functional medicine with the unique properties of medicinal plants offering a functional therapeutic approach to the administration of herbal therapeutics.

Herbal Signatures offers functional pathology testing through Cliniclabs and NutriPath laboratories to explore the underlying causes of illness using a functional and systemic approach. Functional pathology tests investigate functional, biochemical, nutritional, metabolic and hormonal status to provide essential information to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients seeking a holistic approach to health.

Meet Dr. Francesca Panzironi

Dr Francesca Panzironi (PhD) is a degree-qualified naturopath and herbalist working with families to enhance their health and wellbeing. Francesca provides holistic care for both children and adults focusing on restoring optimal physiological functioning. She adopts a scientific evidence-based approach to the administration of herbal medicine for acute and chronic conditions to support physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Born in Rome, Francesca grew up surrounded by the rich history of the Roman empire, Medieval castles, and Renascence art. As a teenager, she moved with her family to the scenic hills outside Rome, in the heart of the region’s wine country. Immersed in her mother’s garden filled with flowers and herbs, Francesca unknowingly experienced the fundamental principles of wellbeing from an early age: the Mediterranean diet, the medicinal use of food and herbs, sharing meals with loved ones, and the healing power of nature.

Educational background

Francesca has a multidisciplinary educational background. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and a Master’s Degree in International Development. Her work took her to the United Nations in New York and on various development projects across Central and South America.

In 2001, she moved to Sydney where she completed a PhD in Law and then she spent several years as a lecturer in human rights and development at both the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales.

Her interest in traditional, complementary and integrative medicine led her on a journey across South Australia to explore Aboriginal traditional medicine. In 2012, she founded the first NGO for Aboriginal traditional healers in Australia, the Anangu Ngangkari Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation (ANTAC). Her work with Aboriginal healers rekindled her connection to western herbal medicine, particularly its Mediterranean roots in Greece and Italy. The plants, herbs and flowers from her childhood inspired her to delve deeper into their therapeutic potential.

Francesca attained a Bachelor’s Degree of Health Science in Naturopathy. She established Herbal Signatures to practice herbal medicine by blending the ancient wisdom of western herbal medicine and contemporary evidence-based research on medicinal plants.

Francesca now practices as a naturopath and herbalist in Sydney.
